The Green Narrative Fellowship is Taqalum’s flagship climate storytelling initiative, created to equip young people with the knowledge, creative skills and confidence to tell those stories — and use them to contribute to climate action.
Rather than treating storytelling as simply a form of expression, the fellowship sees it as a tool for understanding, connection and change.

At the heart of the fellowship is a simple journey:
- Learn — Understand climate change, sustainability, climate justice and the power of narrative.
- Create — Transform research, observations and lived experiences into compelling written, visual and digital stories.
- Act — Take those stories beyond the fellowship through publication, campaigns, public engagement and continued participation in the climate movement.
The result is not just a trained storyteller.
It is a young person with the ability to make climate issues more human, accessible, and impossible to ignore.
A Growing Climate Community
Across two cohorts, the Green Narrative Fellowship has brought together 116 young storytellers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, creating a growing community of people learning to communicate climate change through creativity.
Fellows have explored climate and environmental challenges through research, lived experiences, and creative expression, developing original work across different forms of storytelling.
Their work has grown into two climate storytelling anthologies featuring 70+ creative pieces, creating a lasting collection of youth perspectives on the climate challenges shaping Pakistan and beyond.
The second cohort took this journey further. 14 carefully selected fellows came together to develop their own creative portfolios, bringing fresh perspectives, experiences, and ideas into the fellowship. 11 of the 14 fellows were women, adding important voices to a space where diverse perspectives are essential to understanding climate realities.
Alongside their written and creative work, two fellows developed documentary projects, taking climate storytelling from the page to the screen and exploring how film can make environmental realities more visible and personal.
From the first cohort to the second, the fellowship continues to evolve — with each group adding new stories, new perspectives and new possibilities to a growing climate narrative movement.
Stories That Go Beyond the Fellowship
The work created through the Green Narrative Fellowship is designed to live beyond the program.
Through anthologies, portfolios, visual narratives, documentaries and public-facing campaigns, fellows transform what they learn into work that can be shared, experienced and discussed by wider audiences.
A climate story can introduce someone to an issue they never understood.
A personal experience can make an abstract crisis feel real.
A creative narrative can open a conversation.
And a conversation can become the beginning of action.
