In anticipation of the International Day for Biodiversity, Taqalum launched an early campaign that celebrated youth empowerment, sustainability, and the power of creative expression. One of the campaign’s standout moments occurred at BUITEMS, where Ms. Arooj Khan led an inspiring activity that turned environmental awareness into an artistic act of innovation.
Students gathered to collect used plastic bottles, which are typically viewed as waste. But through paint, purpose, and creativity, these bottles were transformed into vibrant bird shelters, later placed on campus trees. The activity beautifully combined storytelling, art, and sustainability, showing how small, hands-on actions can contribute to protecting biodiversity.
Every bottle became more than a decoration; it was a symbol of how waste can be reimagined as a source of life. The students didn’t just recycle—they redefined what it means to care for nature.
This initiative reflects Taqalum’s mission to use storytelling and creative platforms to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. It empowered students to think critically and act creatively, reminding us all that environmental action doesn’t have to wait for a specific date—it begins with those who dare to act now.
By nurturing both art and action, this event showed how youth-led innovation can help shape a greener, more compassionate world—one brushstroke at a time.
